HISTORY OF ArtsALIVE!
In the spring of 1997, a general notice was posted inviting all interested parties to brainstorm the role that the arts play in the education of our children and to envision how the arts component could be enhanced for their benefit.
An exchange of ideas occurred focusing on the high school age group in particular, where the need was felt to be the strongest at the time. A grant, funded by The Katonah Lewisboro School Foundation set the group in motion, which evolved to be known as ArtsALIVE!
How ArtsALIVE! Functions
Teachers and/or students submit a request for funds which is reviewed by the ArtsALIVE! board at regularly posted meetings. A grant is determined based upon available resources. Working in concert with school district procedure, BOCES Arts-in-Education funding is utilized whenever possible to insure the funds are efficiently spent.
Recognized as a 501(c)(3), ArtsALIVE! maintains an economic base through annual membership fees, The Wall of the Arts, fundraising activities, sponsors, corporate matching, and private donations.
