The 2012-2013 Trip to Lincoln Center & Broadway Singing Workshop

Note from Ms Geiger:

“I wanted to thank you all for sponsoring our 2013 trip to Lincoln Center for the Music History/Theory and Music Technology students, as well as the first trip ever for our Concert Choir students to visit Broadway this year! ArtsAlive! is a true partner in every sense of the word, by supporting and sponsoring these exceptional artistic opportunities for our students year after year.

This year, 60 students traveled to NYC to visit Lincoln Center and all it has to offer. Students participated in a backstage tour, heard the NY Philharmonic in concert, and attended an evening performance featuring Branford Marsalis at Jazz at Lincoln Center. It was a fun-filled day celebrating our love of music! In addition, our Concert Choir had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with Broadway actress, Lindsay Northen, as well as attend a matinee performance of Wicked the Musical! This opportunity was truly, “once in a lifetime,” for 46 absolutely captivated students!

Thank you ArtsAlive! for supporting these amazing opportunities; the students and I greatly appreciate it!!! “

Announcing auditions to sing at the John Jay Encore Cabaret!

John Jay singers! ArtsAlive is hosting a cabaret on Friday, January 4, 2013, that will feature both current students and a handful of our wonderful and talented alumni from years past! We are looking for current students to join the alumni in reprising songs from past John Jay Musicals.

We are excited to announce that Andre Catrini will be our Musical Director. A graduate of JJHS and Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (2011), Andre is currently writing and composing for shows in New York. He has assembled a wonderful cast of JJ alums and is looking to add current students to the list of performers.

Students interested in auditioning must submit a video audition (details to follow). Audition pieces must be chosen from the song list below. The corresponding sheet music and the Encore Cabaret Application will be available via download from the ArtsAlive! website – we will post it and let people know on the FB event page as soon as it is finalized.
Here is the Facebook event page for the auditions: https://www.facebook.com/events/253866501409329/permalink/253866504742662/

Andre will be accepting video audition submissions until December 20th. Most likely the way to submit will be via youtube, where you keep your video’s permissions private and give the link to Andre via the application.

There will be a Cabaret meeting this Monday, Dec. 10th at 3pm for any students interested in auditioning for this event, or for anyone who may want to help organize and get the word out.

We would also welcome questions at the ArtsAlive! Annual Meeting, at 3pm, Wednesday, December 12th. Meeting locations will be announced on Monday.
